About the Principal

Spencer Watson, J.D.

Watson Labs & Designworks, LLC is a private firm founded by Spencer Watson (they/them) in 2025. They are an independent researcher, writer, and academic—as well as the Founder & Executive Director of the Center for LGBTQ Economic Advancement & Research (CLEAR), a not-for-profit organization seeking to advance financial access and freedom for LGBTQ individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and communities.

Spencer has spent over 15 years working for non-profit organizations to advance the rights of people in the United States to have free & open access to education, financial services, and other public goods and services and also to overcome any systemic barriers and other obstacles to their personal goals.

Spencer holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), with honors, from the University of Colorado at Boulder in both English Literature and Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental (MCD) Biology, as well as a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Law School at the University of California – Berkeley. Additionally, Spencer is a Certified Financial Counselor accredited by the National Association of Certified Credit Counselors (NACCC).
